- Feast at one of Black Mountain’s 35 restaurants, and sample a beer and spirits at the following: Black Mountain Brewing, Lookout Brewing, Oak & Grist Distillery, Pisgah Brewery.

- Since the early 1800s, Black Mountain and the Swannanoa Valley have been hosting travelers in the Swannanoa Valley. David Crockett fell in love with his first wife Elizabeth Patton in the Swannanoa Settlement in 1815. If you are a history buff, check out the amazing Swannanoa Valley Museum and History Center.

- Only two miles away is Montreat, the former home of the Rev. Billy Graham, The Montreat Conference Center, Montreat College and the Town of Montreat. - Mt. Mitchell, accessible from the Blue Ridge Parkway, is the tallest mountain in the Eastern U.S. and hosts the Annual Black Mountain Marathon and Mount Mitchell Challenge. The 40 mile race is held the last weekend of February. It is one of the toughest races in the USA.

Stroll through the miles of trails at the North Carolina Arboretum. Learn all about the forestry system at the Cradle of the Forestry. Downtown Asheville, filled with galleries and upscale stores, can be discovered along the unique 1.7 mile Urban Trail, examining wonderful architecture and bronze sculpture while following simple arrows and directions.
- Just 30 minutes southeast of Black Mountain is scenic Lake Lure and Chimney Rock Park . with hiking trails, waterfalls, and wonderful scenery. Check out the movies Last of the Mahicans and Dirty Dancing which were filmed there.
