Welcome to the Kiwanis Club of Black Mountain – Swannnanoa. We meet weekly at the Christmont Assembly Dining Hall, NC 9 South, Black Mountain, NC, at 11:45 on Thursdays. For those unable to attend a noon meeting, we have Early K meetings at 7:30am on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of the month at the Tap in Grill on the Black Mountain Golf Course.
Our programs start exactly at 11:45 and lunch follows no later than 12:30.
Our Club was chartered on November 9, 1956, which makes us over 60 years old .
We have more than 80 members, men and women, young and old, active and retired.
Our Major Projects are:
The Swannanoa Valley Christian Ministry, providing help to the needy in the valley – food, clothing, medical needs, fuel, furniture, counseling.
Children and Friends Enrichment Center, the only day care center in Black Mountain, taking children from 6 weeks to 12 years. This is a four star licensed facility.
We tutor in all the schools in the Valley, sponsor the Key Club at Owen High School, a Builders Club at the Owen Middle School and K-Kids Club at Black Mountain Elementary School.
Our major fund raising project is our Kiwanis Thrift Shop, manned by Kiwanians and other volunteers, open 6 days a week.
Dues are $150 per year and meals are presently $10.00 for those eating. Joining fee is $35.00.
